Keeping Your Fury Friends Safe From Harmful Scents

In honor of furry friends' day, we've compiled some tips to help keep our pups safe around our candles.

Most scented candles contain essential oils, which can be harmful to dogs. Depending on how concentrated the scents are, cinnamon, eucalyptus, tea tree, citrus and peppermint are some common essential oils that are known to be toxic to dogs. Be sure to burn candles in a well ventilated area to reduce irritation from smoke and fragrance. Make sure to check with your vet about which scents are safe to use around your dog.

Always keep candles (lit and unlit) out of your dog's reach to prevent accidental ingestion of oils and wax. Never leave your dog and a lit candle alone together in the same room to prevent fire hazards.

From everyone at Mission Crafts Chandlery . . . Happy National Dog Day!
